Habitat for Humanity - Steuben County

Over the last year, we were able to help two families realize the dream of homeownership. We are also excited to be coming to completion on our next project in the Village of Bath! 

Next Spring, we will be breaking ground on a home in the City of Corning.  We need your help!  Development costs have risen 15+% in the last year.  Habitat for Humanity ensures that Habitat Homeowners do not pay a monthly mortgage and escrow payment of more than 33% of their income.  To make up the difference between the development and the sales cost, we rely, in part, on individual contributions from the community.  

Most know that Habitat builds homes.  Steuben County Habitat also has a critical health and safety repair program.  Funding from other agencies provides for repairs that help seniors, disabled veterans, and low-income homeowners stay in their homes.  We also have a wheelchair ramp building program.  In the past year, we have built and installed 8 ramps to help seniors age in place.  

We also operate the ReStore.  The ReStore embodies the organization’s mission by combining fundraising, sustainability, and community engagement. Every donation and purchase at a ReStore directly supports Habitat’s efforts to build homes, strengthen communities, and provide hope to families in need

Habitat for Humanity is a global housing organization that has grown to become a leading nonprofit working in nearly 1,400 communities throughout the U.S. and in nearly 70 countries. 

Steuben County Habitat for Humanity has built or repaired over 42 homes for families since its inception in 1993. In the past 5 years, we have also helped 18 area veterans make critical repairs on their homes.
