Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital

Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital (SSMH), a Critical Access Hospital named to honor and memorialize residents who served in World War I, has been located on the northern edge of the village of Penn Yan since 1924. The hospital operates a 25-bed general acute care unit that includes medical telemetry care, specializing in general acute care and cardiac monitoring. The Swing Bed Program located on First Acute is utilized to provide patients with care following an acute care hospitalization, when the patient needs more time to recover. 

In December, 2020, Soldiers and Sailors Health Center opened on the second floor of the hospital. The primary care practice serves patients of all ages, with convenient access to cardiac, rehabilitation, laboratory and diagnostic services, which has the only CT scanner in Yates county.

The Homestead at Soldiers & Sailors has four units, including two Skilled Nursing units, a neurobehavioral unit, and a secure unit where skilled nursing and special needs care for cognitively-impaired residents are provided. Short-term rehabilitation services also are provided on the Skilled Nursing units for those needing these services while they transition to another level of care or discharge home.
