WHO WE ARE!

Child and Family Resources (CFR) was established in 1975 with the opening of a parent cooperative preschool. This unique non-profit child/family centered agency now comprises four sites to directly serve communities in Yates, Ontario, and Seneca Counties.   CFR provides a broad range of services and programs which offer parents and child care providers opportunities for understanding the roles of parents/providers and the needs of infants and children. Our agency’s mission concentrates on parent and caregiver education and positive early learning experiences for children. 

OUR PROGRAMS...

CFR has a Family Resource Center in Penn Yan (Yates County) offering a variety of services including fun Family Connection events, access to basic supports for families (i.e. car seats, safety gates, diapers, financial support for emergency needs etc.), parent groups, early childhood learning opportunities and a fun play space.  We also have locations in Canandaigua (Ontario County) and Seneca Falls (Seneca County)

CFR also operates The Children's Center at Yates County Courthouse for parents and caregivers who need child care while attending to court related business- at no charge to families!

Our parent services also include the Healthy Families program serving all three counties which provides tailored home visiting and parent resource supports to expectant and new parents for up to 5 years. 

Parents in the community are also invited to attend parenting groups like FLIP IT, Building your Bounce, Incredible Years, Active Parenting and more. CFR provides support group opportunities like Family Connection Circle (an infant feeding support group), parent- child play groups like Together Time and access to supervised visitation services if needed.  

Additionally, CFR serves as the Child Care Resource Centers for Yates, Ontario and Seneca counties offering 

• resources on child care quality and regulatory information, 
• child care referrals for parents, 
• training and assistance to in home and center-based child care providers, 
• registration of School Age Child Care Programs and family based child care programs and 
• access to items needed to operate safe and fun early learning programs.  

The child care services also include support to programs with our Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant, Infant and Toddler Specialists, sponsorship of the Child and Adult Care Food Program that supports healthy nutrition and the cost of food in family based programs, and specialized business supports and on site services to child care programs.

• onsite support to promote quality child care
• one-on-one assistance with parenting and child development questions
