Help Put Thanksgiving Dinners on the Tables of Our Neighbors

Thanksgiving will soon be here and most of us look forward to sitting down to a lovely dinner with family and friends. For those struggling with food insecurity, however, it can be a discouraging and difficult day. Would you like to help brighten their holiday?

For this year’s FLXGives, we are again raising funds for our annual Thanksgiving Groceries Distribution. Families will receive enough food for a turkey dinner with all the sides/fixings, while individuals and seniors will be given ingredients for a whole roasted chicken meal (plus leftovers!).

No matter how much you give, your contribution will make an impact. Please help put Thanksgiving dinners on the tables of our neighbors.

Thank you for your compassion!

Who We Are

Corning Community Food Pantry has faithfully served our neighbors in need since 1973—hundreds of thousands throughout the years. Each client’s story is unique, and they face hard times for a variety of reasons: sudden job loss, a health crisis, disability, divorce and more recently, the higher costs of basic necessities. Our caring, all-volunteer staff provides each individual and family with enough nutritious groceries to last 5-7 days. Thanks to our kind supporters, our pantry maintains industrial refrigerators and freezers, so we stock items such as dairy, eggs, fresh produce, meats and fish—in addition to non-perishable foods.

Each year, we distribute about 140 tons of food to thousands of people in need. But visitors receive more than just groceries. Corning Community Food Pantry offers dignity and respect. It doesn’t matter what brings a person through our doors. It only matters that they leave with the food they need, served with compassion.

For the convenience and support of our clients, we also offer education and strive to meet other basic human needs. Examples include personal care items, diapers, laundry detergent, dish soap, and featured recipes. We also regularly promote other food sources such as SNAP (the food stamp program) and local mobile food pantries.

Since we are an all-volunteer organization, 90% of all donated money goes directly to the purchase of groceries. Every $5 donation can be leveraged to buy $28 worth of food.

Corning Community Food Pantry is a partner agency of the Food Bank of the Southern Tier. For more information about the work we do, visit corningfoodpantry.com.
