def.init

Def.init is a student-led organization dedicated to expanding access to computing and technology education for middle schoolers in the Corning-Painted Post community, where current tech courses cover only introductory platforms like Scratch and EV3 robotics. With help from a middle school advisor, we’re excited to bring new learning opportunities that teach kids fundamental coding skills using industry-standard tools like Raspberry Pi, Arduino, and languages such as Python and Java. Our team is comprised of students from high schools with advanced backgrounds in IB HL Computer Science, math, and robotics, who are passionate about sparking students’ interest in tech through practical, hands-on projects. We plan to guide them in building projects with servos and sensors to spark curiosity and confidence for future STEM fields. We are ready to launch this initiative with already developed curriculums and impact our community. All we need now is funding for the essential equipment required for the miniature computer kits, mainly arduino kits.
