Hornell Area Humane Society

Established in 1906, the Hornell Area Humane Society (HAHS) is a no-kill animal shelter committed to helping the animals in our community through care for homeless animals, pet adoptions, dog control services, TNR services, microchipping and grooming services, volunteer/foster opportunities, a pet food assistance program, and a fully fenced 1 acre dog yard open daily for public use.

Unfortunately, calls regarding surrendering animals or strays have far outweighed the calls regarding adoptions.  We are helping more animals than ever before, and we need your help now more than ever in order to continue doing this.  In addition to an increased number of animals needing our help - rising veterinary bills, utility bills, and new animal care standards going into effect on December 15th, 2025 have resulted in increased costs as well. 

We hope to be able to continue our crucial work for another 100 plus years but need your help in order to do so.  

A $10 donation covers the cost of Pill Pockets, highly beneficial for medication administration. 

A $20 donation covers the cost of a rabies vaccine, a mandatory and important part of vetting.  

An $85 donation covers the cost of a cat spay, beneficial for the cat's health and crucial to reduce overpopulation. 

A $90 donation covers the cost of a 27.5lb bag of dog food, which we order weekly. 

A $200 donation cover the cost of a 61lb - 90lb dog spay, beneficial for the dog's health and crucial to reduce overpopulation. 

But truly, any amount helps and we appreciate any and all donations so much.  Thank you for your consideration and compassion for the animals in our care.
