Arbor Housing and Development Domestic Violence Shelter

The mission of Arbor Housing and Development is to enhance the quality of life in communities by building independence and creating housing options.

We envision communities:

• Where everyone lives in decent, affordable and safe housing;
• Where every individual has access to the resources to live as independently as possible, and;
• Where Arbor Housing and Development continues to be accepted as a collaborative partner in community revitalization efforts

Personal safety is a fundamental right.  We are here to support victims of domestic violence courageously seeking safety in the face of huge challenges.

The Net Domestic Violence Services assists over 500 victims of domestic violence each year.  Our DV services include:

• 24-hour crisis hotline:  1-800-286-3407
• The Net Shelter & Domestic Abuse Program:  The Net is a secure, temporary shelter - a 14-bed facility where victims and their children can safely stay and work on securing permanent, safe living arrangements.  Our DV program includes residential, non-residential, legal and transitional domestic violence services, and assists with emergency items while in shelter and while transitioning out of shelter.
• Support groups
• Legal advocacy

Who We Are

Arbor Housing and Development is a progressive, non-profit, 501(c)3 corporation, committed to building independence and creating housing options to underserved populations primarily in the Southern Tier of New York and North Central Pennsylvania. Created over 55 years ago during the "war on poverty" as Steuben Churchpeople Against Poverty, the organization has grown from 8 part-time volunteers dedicated to self-help housing to 120 full-time employees. We offer residential behavioral health and domestic violence services that help people overcome challenges and go on to live safely on their own. Arbor Housing and Development's assistance for renters and home-buyers creates a pathway to the security and stability all people deserve. By developing, rehabilitating and managing quality residential sites, we empower people to live within their means in communities of their choice. Today, Arbor Housing and Development is a thriving human services and housing assistance provider, real estate development and property management corporation, NeighborWorks affiliate, and Rural Preservation Company.
