The Whole Heart of Hospice: Body, Mind, and Spirit

Hospice care touches every part of a person’s life and the lives of the families who love them. At CareFirstNY, our team provides compassionate care, comfort, and dignity to patients in Chemung, Schuyler, and Steuben counties, while also supporting families with guidance, emotional support, and practical resources.

This year, our staff has split into three teams to bring the theme of whole-person care to life. Each team represents a different aspect of the comprehensive end-of-life care we provide, giving you a way to engage in our friendly competition while knowing every dollar supports the full range of hospice services:

• Team Body – Focuses on physical comfort and medical care, including skilled nursing, pain management, medical equipment, and care supplies, as well as well as providing funds to cover the cost of care for those who are under- or uninsured 💙

• Team Mind – Focuses on emotional and mental well-being, providing grief counseling, mental health counseling, caregiver guidance, children’s grief resources, and community education and outreach to help more people understand hospice 💛 

• Team Spirit – Focuses on hope, meaning, and legacy, offering spiritual care, memorial and remembrance events, the Wish Fund (granting last wishes for patients), and life-affirming experiences that honor the individual and their story 🧡
