Corning Hawks Education Foundation - Corning Painted Post School District Foundation

A nonprofit organization

Public education is our greatest pathway to opportunity in America. ~ Michelle Obama

The Corning Hawks Education Foundation is an all-volunteer organization that provides funding for innovative and engaging projects that enhance students’ educational experiences through our Classroom Mini-Grants Program. Teachers and staff may apply for up to $500 per school year for programs or equipment that cannot be funded by the school district but that make a big difference to students. Funded projects have included:

  • Books that celebrate diversity and inclusion for several elementary school classrooms
  • Noise cancelling headphones to help High School Learning Center students study independently
  • Math Stackers, a hand-on learning tool for Kindergarteners
  • Wobble chairs for Middle School classrooms that provide the opportunity for movement to students who benefit from that sensory input without disrupting classroom routines
  • Keep the Beat - heart monitors for Winfield 3rd, 4th and 5th graders to use in PE class
  • Support of the Regional Spelling Bee
  • Games for several classrooms at Carder School for their Drop Everything and Play program designed to develop age-appropriate social skills, including plannng and organizing, problem solving, taking turns, developing social and cognitive strategies, following directions, celebrating the success of others and displaying good sportsmanship
  • Therapeutic miniature horse visits to multiply disabled students to assist with stress reduction; increase socialization; help with motor, cognitive and physical skills; and improve focus
  • A rocking chair that helps a Kindergarten student move appropriately while focusing on academic tasks
  • Ozobot robots that combine art with learning about coding
  • Items such as calm strips for "sensory closet" that includes materials that address elementary school students' need to move and fidget, their need to reduce anxiety, and the challenge of being asked to sit all day
  • DeskCycles for Middle School 6th graders that help them regulate their bodies and focus on instruction, and integrated math work as well
  • Makerspace materials for High School students to create masks that showcase their elements of their identities; along with seeds to grow and tend while learning about the mental health benefits of plants, and poster board to create advocacy posters about health vs. unhealthy relationships

An investment in public education is the ultimate investment in our future. Our district uses the resources available to great advantage for students but those resources are limited. Because teachers want the best for the students, they often spend their own money on projects or supplies that are outside the district budget.

We support teachers, students and staff by funding classroom projects and equipment that falls outside the school district budget. Grants of up to $500 are awarded via a simple application process. Funding has helped with special programs, classroom libraries, field trips, supplies and equipment - and more. The past few years have been particularly tough for both students and teachers and our goal is to offer a bit of relief.

In addition to the mini-grants, our Encore! Musical Instrument Recycling Program accepts donated instruments and pays to have them refurbished and provided to young, inspiring musicians.

We also served as the fiscal conduit for the Adam Dohn Memorial Climbing Wall Go Fund Me project and will accept donations for the wall's maintenance.

The Foundation is an entirely volunteer organization. Your gift will directly benefit CPP students.

We share the District's mission: Students are the center of all we do.
