Dundee Library

The Dundee Library opened in the current building in 1920. Della Reese Cooper, a founding member of the Woman’s Study Club and Library, left her home, property and $2000 to have a library built.  The new building opened on January 31, 1920.  Leander McCord, Jr., an architect from Rochester, designed the building.  

There have been three additions to the library since 1920.  The Tripp Community Room was built in 2020 and opened in 2021.

Over the years, repairs have been made to the building.  The Library Board has voted to hire an architectural firm to complete a “Report of Site Visit’ to include recommendations for the exterior brick, slate roof and exterior wood.  Report of Site Visit is a brief walk-through and a spreadsheet is prepared which identifies general work areas and priorities. Photographs and sketch floor plans are usually included in the report. No construction costs are estimated. This report is a very preliminary planning document.  This report will be used for planning future repairs to the 1920 building.

FLXGives donations for this year will be used to pay for the site visit at a cost of $3000-$5,000.

The Library serves the residents of the Dundee School District and is a member of the Southern Tier Library System.

Who We Are

The Dundee Library serves the community by providing resources for information, learning opportunities, and networking. It serves the residents in the Dundee School District and provides library services and programming to all ages. The Library is completing a two phase expansion project which added accessible community meeting space, enlarged the children's room and created a teen room. The library provides hard copy and digital books and magazines, printing, copying and faxing, high speed Wi-Fi 24/7, computer workstations. The Library is a member of the Southern Tier Library System.
The next project is to add an ADA compliant wheelchair lift to access the three building levels.
