His Haven is a faith-based nonprofit in Elmira, NY, dedicated to empowering individuals and families with the support, tools, and education they need to build a brighter, more stable future.

We believe every person who walks through our doors is valuable, unique, and created with a purpose. Relationships are at the heart of everything we do. By fostering connection, dignity, and encouragement, we help individuals discover their God-given gifts and navigate a path toward hope, healing, and meaningful progress.

At His Haven, we don’t just offer programs—we build people up. Our goal is to help each person take confident steps toward growth, independence, and a successful future.

The Knock at Door #3...it could have been any one of us that day!

The wind howled — it was one of those bitter winter mornings where the cold bites straight through to the bone.  Snow flurried across the street in frantic circles and most folks were tucked inside, safe and warm.

Then came the knock.

It wasn’t loud. It wasn’t forceful. It was a tired, trembling tapping — the kind you only hear when someone has used every last ounce of strength just to stand there.

When we opened the door, there he was.

A young man, early twenties, shivering in nothing but a thin button-up shirt, weathered jeans and tattered shoes, the tails of his shirt flapping in the wind. His hands stuffed deep into his pockets, shoulders hunched tight to conserve what little warmth he had left. No coat. No gloves. No hat.

But his eyes told the story — defeat, exhaustion… and yet, just enough hope left to knock.

His voice shook as he whispered, “Do you… have anything to help keep me warm?”

He wasn’t asking for much, but at His Haven, we don’t do “just enough.”

We wrapped him in a thick winter coat — one that hugged him like dignity coming back home. We gave him warm socks for his freezing feet, followed by sturdy winter boots that could face the snow instead of surrender to it. We handed him a backpack filled with food — not scraps, not leftovers, but nourishment packed with care. We let him stand inside for a moment, just to breathe warmth again — just to remember what hope feels like.

Gratitude washed over his face and in that moment, warmth wasn’t just physical — it was human.

This wasn’t charity. It wasn’t a good-deed-for-the-day. This is who we are at His Haven. This is what we do — not once, not sometimes, but every day. For every cold knock, every tired soul, every story still waiting for redemption.

That knock could have come from anyone. A mother fleeing with her children from a domestic violence situation. Someone newly released from rehabilitation or incarceration trying to rebuild their life. It could have been your son. Your daughter. Someone you love.

Every day, children and families in our community walk through our doors hungry for hope — because of people like you, they find it.

At His Haven, we meet immediate needs with compassion: warm meals, clothing, safe spaces for kids, support for struggling parents, and programs that restore dignity and rebuild lives.

Your gift to Haven Heroes fuels that mission. It puts warm coats on cold shoulders. Food into hungry hands. Hope into hearts that thought it was gone forever.

When you give, you’re not just donating — you’re becoming a hero to someone who didn’t know where to turn.

Please take thos opportunity to give during this fundraiser and be a hero for someone who needs you today...

your gift will impact that next person that knocks on Door #3!
