The Pro Action Community Action Angels Adopt-A-Child Christmas Program serves families throughout our service area to keep the spirit of the holidays alive and well! Often, parents and caregivers are faced with unique circumstances and challenges during the holidays. Such as a major car repair, medical emergency, job loss, loss of a family member or domestic partner, or other situations. Sometimes they even find themselves homeless.

Using the power of our community, and resources from our Community Action Angels Program, we ensure that the children of families facing a challenge or crisis can enjoy the holidays, as every child deserves. Pro Action case managers refer families to the program who would likely never ask for help, but due to unforeseen circumstances cannot provide Christmas to their children, or children in their care. Our Christmas angels step in (both staff and community members alike) and “adopt” the child for Christmas. For those children beyond what we can find adopters for, we use funds from our Community Action Angels program. These funds are utilized to purchase gifts specific to the child and address not only wished-for items, but items that may be needed, including winter coats, boots, pajamas, and other clothing items. Children who are homeless are provided a duffel bag to keep their new clothing and gifts safe while their families pursue permanent housing.
