Support the Bright Red Bookshelf!
The Bright Red Bookshelf is a Family Reading Partnership of Chemung Valley (FRPCV) program that collects new and gently used children’s books and places them on bright red bookshelves in permanent locations throughout our community. These shelves ensure that children can take home and keep books—building pride in ownership, sparking a love of reading, and creating lifelong readers.
This program exists thanks to the generosity of people like you. Your donation makes it possible to:
Add more new and gently used books to Bright Red Bookshelves across Chemung County.
Restore and maintain existing Bright Red Bookshelves so they remain a welcoming place for children and families.
Create additional shelves at new sites, reaching even more children with the joy of book ownership.
How can you help?
You can donate new or gently used children’s books at collection sites such as Jubilee Foods, Guthrie Southern Tier Pediatrics, GST BOCES Literacy Zone, and the FRPCV Tent at Wisner Market (June–August). Monetary donations are also deeply appreciated—they help us purchase books and expand the program to serve more families.
Every Book Makes a Difference.
Books on Bright Red Bookshelves are free for children to take home and keep. With your support, we can continue to place books where families live, work, and gather; doctors’ offices, community centers, schools, laundromats, and more. Each book in a child’s hands is an “appetizer” to library use, encouraging reading, confidence, and imagination.
Together, we can keep Chemung County’s Bright Red Bookshelves full, restored, and growing—so that every child has the chance to own and love a book.
