Victoria Supports The ARTS Council!

When I was asked to write about what The ARTS Council means to me for this fundraiser, I wasn't really sure where to start. Not because I didn't know what to say, but because I have SO MUCH to say. I'm not exactly known for my brevity. If you've ever received an email from me, you probably know what I mean. Do I talk about the support I've received in my career? In getting my master's degree? As a creative? Or a farmer? But after writing this in my head numerous times, I've ultimately decided that all these things come down to one thing. And it might be corny to say. But I'm a weird, awkward, and corny person. So, I'll just say it.

The ARTS Council has given me a community. One I probably wouldn't have as an introvert who would only leave my hobble once a month for a toilet paper restock if left to my own devices. The community I have gained since starting as an intern at The ARTS Council has made me a better person. My colleagues, our artist members, and the visitors off the street have opened my world to unimaginable places. This community has supported me and allowed me to make mistakes and learn. To fail and succeed. To cry and laugh and feel. It has allowed me to grow.

My only hope is that I can return the favor.
